I have been making and using Faux Fur poms for 3 years now and attaching them securely can be a challenge at times!
I have found one of the quickest and easiest ways is to use a button. My poms come with two long nylon cords attached that you can run through the top of a hat and then through the button holes. Simply tie a bow or knot it and wrap the excess strings around the back of the button so it's tucked up against the hat. You will still need to check it occasionally to make sure it's secure.
It makes for a super secure, non floppy pom that can be easily removed when and if you need to wash your hat.
